Indoor sport and leisure venue, What A Goal in Thurmaston, is now fully open, including their brand new premium sports bar & grill, What A Shot.
Comprising two indoor 3G artificial grass football pitches, all weather Action Indoor Cricket, All Star Fitness, and Rascal Ranch, Leicester’s newest and most spoken about soft play venue, What A Goal offers a complete all weather entertainment solution.
The final piece of the venue to be completed is What A Shot, their brand new premium sports bar and grill, which offers all day dining, premium drinks and cocktail choices. This is all set within high quality surroundings to view a wide range of sports, multiple screening positions, and a luxury private hire space in their Director’s Lounge. Their Indian fusion menu is complemented by a daytime cafe offering including breakfast and lunch items, plus The Gym Kitchen with macro balanced meals, all served to a premium standard. With a brigade of chefs handpicked from all over the world, What A Shot will offer a sports dining experience unrivalled anywhere else in Leicestershire.
Menu highlights include What A Goal Bao Buns (smoked chicken tikka, paneer tikka or sheikh kebab with tandoori mayo, chilli coriander and mint chutney in a steamed bao bun), Bowled Out Green Sea Bass (house green spice marinated sea bass, cumin potatoes, coconut lime sauce and chilli oil) and Pitch Black Daal (24 hrs slow cooked and smoked black lentil, cream and butter emulsion, ginger, coriander and fenugreek dust to finish). With floor to ceiling windows overlooking the indoor football and cricket facilities, What A Shot also provides the perfect party venue, with birthday and corporate packages available to book now. The venue’s impressive 6 x 2 metre LED wall is a stand-out feature, as well as HD screens showing live sporting events from every angle. Book a table for upcoming fixtures and events and see the screens from every table in the house. What A shot will screen fixtures across all Sky Sports and BT Sport channels, as well as hosting special events for Pay Per View events.
For those with younger children, Rascal Ranch is already proving to be a big hit with their exciting soft play facilities, including a volcano slide, ball pools, mini trampolines and more. There is also a separate on-site cafe situated within Rascal Ranch to complete its offer as a relaxed, family destination.
What A Goal has already hosted a number of successful football and cricket tournaments, with the spaces available to hire for one-off hourly bookings or with a block booking discount. They are also offering arrive and play sessions for children during the summer holidays. Head down every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00-11:00 am and 11:00-12:00 pm throughout the summer holiday at just £5.50 per child, with a choice of football or cricket (or both!).
For those looking to stay active, membership to All Star Fitness is priced at £29.99 per month, with other membership or day pass options available. Members will be able to explore their fully equipped state of the art studio, with high end strength and conditioning equipment, programme of specialist classes and on hand expert training advice.
Following the launch, What A Goal will be hosting a Gala Open Day on Saturday 13 August. With free entry, activities, family fun and entertainment throughout the day, guests are invited to join the owners to get a feel for the venue. Entry will be free throughout the day with activities from 10am – 3pm.

What A Shot is located at 17 Lewisher Road, LE4 9LR. They are open for breakfast and lunch from 10am – 4pm Monday – Friday and 10am – 1pm Saturday and Sunday. The evening menu is served from 5pm onwards 7 days a week.
