The owner of a carpet store is doing something a little different tomorrow.

Howard Jones, who runs Molly Carpets, in St Andrew’s Street South, Bury St Edmunds, has entered the Sandringham Flower Show, which takes place on Wednesday.

It’s the second time he has entered the Show Garden category after discovering the joy of gardening four years ago.

Mr Jones, from Tostock, submitted his idea for a garden design last December and was accepted as one of five entrants from the around the country.

“Around 30,000 people go to the show so it’s pretty exciting,” he said.

“My garden is called Imagine, around 6 metres by 4 metres and features a 5ft elephant, a 5ft panda, a chimpanzee, and some hippos.

“It will have pink artificial grass, white artificial grass over the fences and then, of course, flowers I have been growing at home including lobelia, petunia and begonias."

He added: "Last time, I won a bronze. This time I'm going for gold."

Sandringham Flower Show is one of the country’s top gardening events.

Meanwhile, Flowers from the Farm, the not-for-profit membership association championing artisan growers of local, seasonal British cut flowers, will also be exhibiting at the show.

Visitors to the Flowers from the Farm stand will have the chance to meet the flower farmers, take a look at the pick of the local crop, and learn more about the beauty and the value of buying locally and seasonally.

The growers will be sharing insights into their lives as career flower farmers and into the work of Flowers from the Farm.

East Anglia boasts around 50 flower farmers growing local, seasonal British cut flowers.

In all, 14 flower farmers will be taking part in the show.

These include Norfolk Flower Farm, Brunstead Blooms, Honey Patch Flowers,Tin Shed Flower Farm, English Peonies, The Flowers at Lane End, Salix Barn Flowers and Craft Wilde Blooms, Cut Flowers of Shelford, Rose and Rhubarb Flowers, Fenland Flowers, Amber Cottage Flowers, The Wilde Society, Stone Cottage Plants.
