Sheldon, Iowa-At its regular monthly meeting earlier this week, the Sheldon Community School Board approved an engineering services agreement with Baker Engineering Company to transform the Orab football field from a grass playground. Turf.

The engineer's cost estimate for the project just exceeded $1.286 million. Cory Myer, head of Sheldon Schools, said that although the initial cost is high, there may be cost savings through the turf field in the future.

Myer said that he expects the lawn to be more usable than current lawns.

He said that Orab football and football teams are excited about the upgrade.

Myer said that the lawn field will also become a boon for the school's military band.

He said Orab Field will also be used by other entities, such as the private elementary schools in Shelton City and Shelton, and he said Northwest Iowa Community College is working with the school district on the project.

It should be noted that the engineer's cost estimate is only an estimate. Usually, these estimates are much higher than the actual cost, and the actual cost will not be known until the contractor’s competitive bid for the project is received.
