Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Mark Melancon has lobbed his waterfront mansion in Holmes Beach, FL, onto the market. You can snag it for $14,789,000.

The closer and his wife, Mary Catherine, picked up the property on Anna Maria Island on the Gulf side of the Sunshine State in 2018. They paid $1.45 million for the parcel, according to Realtor.com®.

They then built a championship home that was completed in 2020. The interior designer on the project, Emily Moss of Emily Moss Designs, described the look to SRQ magazine as “seaside chic.”

And the installation of a putting green on the property reportedly inspired the relief ace to start a side hustle that will likely keep him busy when his bullpen days are over. He's now the founder of artificial turf installation company Diamond Quality Turf.

But Melancon hasn’t quit his day job for the lawn biz—yet. In fact, the well-traveled closer signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Diamondbacks in December.

Melancon certainly seems to have a passion for eye-catching spaces. He and his wife didn’t seem set on any particular style for the home, opting instead for a grab bag of fun designs that Moss described as “a little bit sophisticated, relaxed, dramatic, southern, coastal, kid-friendly.”

The bespoke design blends “traditional and modern elements,” the listing notes.

Spanning 5,921 square feet, the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home offers indoor-outdoor living, with views of Bimini Bay.

Highlights include two living rooms, two gas fireplaces, a speakeasy-inspired entertainment room with front and back balconies, an office, bar, and playroom.

The kitchen is also a home run, serving up a 16-foot island, quartz counters, a pantry, and a 6-foot galley sink.

The primary suite comes with a seating area and a private lanai with a gas fireplace.

The home comes with two docks on the deep-water canals.

A new owner can bask in Bimini Bay views from the outdoor living areas. Highlights of the outdoor space include covered patios, a fireplace, kitchen, infinity-edge pool and spa, putting green, and professional landscaping. There's also a two-car garage.

Melancon also had a custom home built in Mexico, according to a 2019 report. The 19,000-square-foot villa at the Mandarina resort north of Puerto Vallarta features eight bedrooms, a gym, casino and game room, two hot tubs, and two pools.

Now 37, the Colorado native made his big league debut with the New York Yankees in 2009. The four-time All-Star has since suited up for eight other big-league squads and racked up 251 saves over the course of his 14-year career.
