Minnesota Twins shortstop Royce Lewis will have reconstructive ACL surgery on his right knee for the second year in a row. The injury is another season-ending setback for the team’s top prospect. Lewis will have the procedure later this month and need a full year to recover. He was hurt in the game on May 29 in a third-inning collision with the wall while making a tough catch. That was his first appearance in center field. Lewis was the first pick in the 2017 amateur draft.

He was 7 under after an even-par 70. McIlroy shot a 68. He was tied with Matt Fitzpatrick, Alex Smalley, Keith Mitchell and Jim Knous.McIlroy had to wait three years to defend his 2019 title because of the COVID-19 pandemic that canceled golf’s fourth-oldest championship the last two years.

The two-time defending champions are one win away from a third straight trip to the Stanley Cup Final, where they would continue their bid to become the first team in 40 years to win three consecutive NHL titles. The Rangers are down 3-2 to the Lightning in the Eastern Conference final but have been especially resilient this postseason. In addition to overcoming a 3-2 playoff series deficit to eliminate the Pittsburgh Penguins in the opening round, New York rebounded from losing the first two games to Carolina in the second round to oust the Hurricanes in seven games. Game 6 is Saturday night at Amalie Arena, where the Lightning wons Game 3 and 4 after losing the first two on the road.

The early days of motocross were technically the same as today. Riders raced dirt bikes over humps and around berms, fastest person wins. But after 50 years, it actually looks almost like a different sport. The motorcycles are faster and more powerful. The riders come from around the globe and are among the fittest athletes in any sport. The tracks feature jumps the old-school riders wouldn’t have even considered, obstacles that would have been unfathomable. And the exposure has skyrocketed.

Ruggs’ defense team argues in court documents that police didn’t have a legal reason to seek a warrant to obtain Ruggs’ blood. Oklahoma and Texas — the two Women’s College World Series finalists — are set to join the Southeastern Conference in 2025 and likely will make the powerhouse conference even more formidable. Oklahoma just won its fifth national title in the past nine World Series, but the current SEC has battled the Sooners every step of the way. Florida won national titles in 2014 and 2015 and Alabama won the championship in 2012. Florida was the only current SEC team to make the World Series field this year, but all 12 teams in the conference reached the NCAA tournament.

The decision is an about-turn by DeChambeau, who had previously said he would continue playing on the PGA Tour. That may not be possible now, as the PGA Tour announced Thursday that players who defect to the renegade series will face banishment from future tour events. Alford said making the change was not easy but that the program was not performing to the level of its high standards. Mike Martin Sr. is the all-time leader in college baseball coaching victories.

A hole-by-hole look at The Country Club, which is hosting the 122nd U.S. Open. It's the fourth time at Brookline, and a playoff has decided the winner at each one. The course has been restored by Gil Hanse and it's a composite for championships of the three 9-hole courses. It features a 510-yard par 4 and a 131-yard par 3. There is plenty of history at Brookline. Part of the land was used for horse racing and steeplechase. There's even a pond that doesn't really come into play. It was used for skating and curling in the 19th century.
