Silkeborg have made an absolutely top class gesture to West Ham fans at their stadium ahead of tonight’s Europa Conference League clash.

West Ham are in Denmark ahead of their Europa Conference League game against Silkeborg on Thursday night.

West Ham top Group B after beating FCSB 3-1 at the London Stadium in the first group stage match of the new campaign last week.

Meanwhile Silkeborg lost 1-0 to Belgian side Anderlecht. That was their third defeat in a row amid a run of just one win in seven until West Ham’s hosts picked up a welcome victory at the weekend.

Hammers News highlighted that West Ham and David Moyes would be faced with a plastic problem at Silkeborg.

Silkeborg play on an artificial pitch at their lovely new little 10,000 capacity JYSK Park stadium.

The plastic pitch is known as MX Ultimate which installers GreenFields claim is a durable and environmentally friendly artificial turf with a long lifespan.

“It is an artificial turf system specially developed for top-level football, able to meet all FIFA’s speed and other requirements,” GreenFields states on its website regarding Silkeborg’s pitch.

In his pre-match press conference Moyes said the pitch may mean certain players will not be able to feature for West Ham.

Moyes may have concerns about the pitch, but West Ham’s hosts have gone above and beyond off it.

Becaue Silkeborg have made an absolutely top class gesture to West Ham fans outside the stadium ahead of the Europa Conference League clash.

The Danish club have been handing out free cans of beer to the 800 or so West Ham supporters at the ground.

One West Ham fan speaking to Hammers News was blown away by the gesture.

“We’ve seen in the past the Leicester owners giving away beers and food to fans,” the West Ham supporter told us.

“But for a club to lay on free beer to away fans, I’ve never seen anything like it.

“We had already loved our time here in Denmark, it is a wonderful place. But this gesture from Silkeborg is absolutely top class, it’s something we will never forget.

“I just hope West Ham can do something to reciprocate the gesture when they come to the London Stadium in the reverse fixture.”

Let’s hear it for Silkeborg! Carlsberg don’t do football hosts… but if they did…

Brilliant stuff, you just love to see it.
