2022-09-10 11:54:06 By : Mr. Kent Wong

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Garaway Field

Quick hits: Both teams are unbeaten and playing with confidence but this will be Carrollton's toughest test. The Warriors have outscored Manchester, Philo and St. Thomas Aquinas 111-26, but those three teams are a combined 1-8. Senior RB Chase Oehlstrom is very good, rushing for 547 yards and six touchdowns. QB Cadyn Smith hasn't had to throw much; he's completed only five passes, but three have gone for touchdowns. Garaway QB Logan Yoder is a multi-threat, with 639 yards passing and 7 TDs, and he's rushed for 133 yards and 3 scores. Dillon Soehnlen leads the Pirates with 154 yards rushing and two scores, and Jensen Garber leads the receivers with 191 yards and 2 TDs. This appears to be the first meeting between these programs.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Ashland Community Stadium

Quick hits: New Philadelphia (1-2) goes back on the road for an Ohio Cardinal Conference game, looking for offense. The Quakers haven't scored since the season opener against CVCA. QB Kolton Fausel has accounted for 323 total yards in three games, and RB Trevor Bean has 138 yards on the ground. New Philadelphia has been led defensively by William Wallace, with 29 tackles, and Bean, with 25. Ashland opens OCC play on a two-game winning streak, defeating Marion Harding 49-7 in Week 2 and Div. IV Buckeye Valley (0-3) 34-16 in Week 3. The Arrows lost at Div. IV Norwayne 61-28 in the opener, Ashland's only game to date against a team that has won any games. QB Luke Bryant threw three TD passes last week and the Ashland defense four takeaways. New Philadelphia leads the all-time series 22-9-3 but this is the first meeting since 1986.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Crater Stadium

Quick hits: This is the first all-time meeting between these programs and the 1,101st in Dover history. Game 1,100 was a success, 20-6 over Indian Valley. The Crimson Tornadoes (3-0) will go offensively behind QB Ben Hamm and RB Mitchell Martin, and a defense that has allowed has allowed just three touchdowns in as many weeks. Allderdice (0-2) has played two traditionally-strong Pennsylvania schools to start the season, losing to North Allegheny 41-0 and Altoona 35-14. Prominent alumni of the school include NFL players Will Clarke and Tyrique Jarrett, and the inventor of the Pittsburgh Steelers' Terrible Towel, Myron Cope.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Malvern Village Park Stadium

Quick hits: The Trojans are still seeking their first win of 2022 and it's not an easy task at the 3-0 Hornets. Tusky Valley is coming off a 35-6 home loss to Tuslaw, while Malvern earned its second consecutive one-score win, 28-20 over Waterloo in its home opener. Hornets QB Jared Witherow is a dual-threat with 597 yards and 7 TDs passing and 145 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Drake Hutchison leads Malvern with 150 yards on the ground. Tusky Valley counters with receiver Beau Wolf (33 catches, 455 yards, 2 TDs) and QB Cole Clements (38 of 79, 426 yards). Malvern's Manny Walker is second in the area with 35 tackles. Malvern won the last meeting, 15-0, in Week 1 in 2020.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Don Drumm Stadium

Quick hits: The Mustangs (0-3) make the long trek to the gray artificial turf of Don Drumm Stadium to face the 1-2 Tigers. Claymont QB Graydon Mooneyham (52-88-452-3 TDs) is among the area's leaders, along with RB AJ Bowsher (20-166-1) and Brody Moreland (13 catches, 158 yards, 1 TD). Marietta is coming off a 12-7 win at Athens. The Tigers are young; their TDs last week in a come-from-behind came from sophomore RB Jakel Shelton (1-yard run) and a 19-yard pass from sophomore QB Drew Warden to junior receiver Elijah Lieras-Kelley. Junior DB Junior Smith and freshman LB Kobe Alexander lead Marietta defensively. This is the first meeting between the programs.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Brotherhood HVAC Stadium

Quick hits: The Bobcats come to the Valley unbeaten and untested. Cambridge has defeated Indian Creek 28-0, Coshocton 42-7 and Meadowbrook 63-0, though those three teams are a combined 1-8. QB Caden Moore was 21-of-22 ― that's correct, one incompletion ― for 416 yards and six TDs last week. For the season he is 53-of-60 for 1,355 yards and 13 TDs with no interceptions. Moore has a number of targets ― Davion Bahr had eight catches for 161 yards and three scores, Devin Ogle had five for 64 and a score, and Owen Feldner two for 88 and a TD. Feldner also returned a punt for six points. Indian Valley will counter with the 1-2 rushing combo of Gavin Henry (33 for 194 yards) and Grady Kinsey (34 for 194), who have both rushed for two TDs. QB Sam Carter's (27-of-47, 198 yards, 1 TD) favorite receiver is Kolton Thomas (12-125-1). Quake Beatty leads the Braves with 33 tackles. Cambridge leads the all-time series 10-2, but this is the first meeting since 2007.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Newcomerstown Stadium

Quick hits: RB Brunk Millender of Newcomerstown leads the area with 440 rushing yards and seven TDs, leading the Trojans to a 2-1 start. They've scored 112 points the last two weeks against Beallsville and Conotton Valley, though Sciotoville East (2-1), record-wise, is a better test. The Tartans lost to South Gallia, 22-14, last week, after wins over Zanesville Rosecrans 52-20 and Manchester 48-14. Carter McConnell has added 135 yards rushing for Newcomerstown, and QB Clayton Fish has rarely, but efficiently, passed the ball (12 of 19, 155 yards, 2 scores). East is quarterbacked by senior Austin Baughman, who leads the team in rushing. Junior Cameron Justice will also carry the ball.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Ron Hurst Stadium

Quick hits: Something has to give when two winless teams face off. Strasburg has faced a daunting start to its schedule, and has been outscored 138-20. The Rockets' three opponents are a combined 7-2 but the average margin is just five points. Conotton Valley lost to Tuslaw 49-48 in overtime and 21-20 to Malvern, missing a two-point try at the end of the game. Conotton Valley won last year's game 48-8, but the Tigers lead the all-time series 44-8 and had won 11 consecutive between 2009-19.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday at Robert Hines Stadium

Quick hits: Sandy Valley finishes a three-week road trip against the winless Lions (0-2), who canceled last week's game because of COVID within the program. The Cardinals have had no problems scoring the last two weeks, putting up 34 at Manchester and 30 at Canton South. Led by Jack Murphy (38 tackles) and Deaune Earley (33), Sandy Valley's defense could get healthy, too, against the scoring-challenged Lions, who have just one touchdown in two games. The Cardinals won last year's game, 49-3.

Kickoff: 2 p.m. Saturday at Clyde Bishop Stadium

Quick hits: The Saints look to bounce back against a winless opponent after a 41-point setback at Wheeling Central in Week 3. Jordan Cherry continues to put up big numbers, though, with 293 yards rushing and 615 passing. Thayne Mahaffey is also a threat, with 228 yards on the ground and 132 yards receiving. Gavin Douglass leads the defense with 25½ tackles. Montpelier, located about 10 miles from the Indiana border, has won just five of its last 29 games.
