Canada will host a key World Cup qualifier outdoors at the Tim Hortons Stadium in Hamilton on January 30.
The Canadian football team announced the news on Thursday.

"We are very happy to bring the men's national team FIFA World Cup qualifiers to Hamilton in January. After the impressive performance of the Edmontons in November, the team has gained support across the country," said Dr. Nick in Canada Football Association President Bontis said in a statement. This will be the third consecutive home game in Canada that may be played in cold weather, and it will also be Hamilton's first Canadian men's international "A" game. The top three teams can directly enter the 2022 World Cup.
The US-Canada game adds another major event to the Tim Hortons Stadium schedule. Hamilton Stadium will host the Canadian Premier League final on December 5, the Grey Cup final on December 12, and the Tim Horton traditional classic outdoor NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres on March 13.
