Livingstone will add blue football turf as part of the stadium renovation project

Salisbury, North Carolina-Livingstone College has announced plans to refurbish its alumni memorial stadium.

The 6,000-seat stadium will undergo a comprehensive renovation of the track and field field, including high jump aprons, throwing laps, and running tracks.

The stadium project will also add a video scoreboard in the southeast corner, and the current turf will be converted to artificial turf and recolored to "Livingstone Blue".

"We are very pleased to see the implementation of this project and provide our beloved student athletes in track and field with a new place that can be called home," said Sports Director Lamonte Massie-Sampson. "We sincerely thank our friends at the Honey Bear Project, especially Ms. Nadia Sellers, for their partnership with us. They helped us complete this new transformation and demonstrated the best performance of the Blue Bear sport."

Livingstone's partnership with Field Turf, Deluxe Athletics, and Formetco Sports, through this project, enables the sports department to provide world-class facilities and competitive advantages in recruitment to attract elite student athletes.

"Adding a video scoreboard to these improvements will give us the opportunity to build partnerships with new and existing sponsors and ensure a rich fan experience," said Marcy Sampson. "The improvements to these facilities demonstrate to local businesses, partners and alumni President Jimmy R. Jenkins Sr.'s commitment to positioning Livingstone as a first-class secondary sports program."

Chief Football Coach Sean Gilbert and Chief Track and Field Coach Justin Davis are excited about the project, which will enable these two projects to market, recruit and retain top talent.

"I am very happy to have the opportunity to build a new football field for our campus community," Gilbert said. "A new football field becomes a resource for all students to grow and enrich in the university atmosphere. Livingstone will use this resource to increase college enrollment and community relations opportunities."

The Livingstone Track and Field Team will temporarily relocate the home game and practice range until the project is fully completed.
